I am the first generation of my family getting into university education. I didn’t have much access to the resources or connections relating to the legal profession and therefore had started another career previously. As a career changer and mature GDL/LLM student, I spent extra effort in getting to learn more about the legal profession. Only after meeting lawyers, trainees and law students via diversity programmes including STRIVE, I started to realise how I can use my transferable skills to strengthen my application to law firms. I really enjoy participating in the activities with STRIVE, particularly the group exercises and skills sessions. STRIVE has provided a friendly, supportive and resourceful platform for aspiring solicitors that helps me to become better equipped for the TC application process. My personal experience with my mentor is also very positive. My mentor, Yajur Kapoor, has provided me helpful advice on my applications and preparation for interview/assessment centre. He also listened to my concerns and shared his tips to cope with the pressure and challenges from his own experience.
